New Sculpture
I finally fired this beautifully relaxed nude sculpture. She’s been standing in my studio for months because I was too nervous to fire her in the damp weather-ceramicists know that firing damp clay can lead to some pretty devastating kiln explosions.

Getting her into the kiln was not as easy as I’d hoped. Even though I made all the measurements, she ended up being about 2 mm too big for the kiln, and I had to shorten her foot… I felt like Cinderella’s stepmother for a moment.

Now all that’s left is to give her a name. I might just go with the model’s name, Alys, as she’s such a lovely and creative person.

Inspired by the calm of winter
Porcelain in calm whites and soft winter blues, inspired by the quiet beauty of snow-covered landscapes. Subtle details catch the light like glittering snow, evoking the stillness, calm, and gentle serenity of a winter’s day.
Deep-sea Creatures
After the Christmas craziness, I’ve returned to a new–old project. The deep-sea anglerfish toothpick holder, accompanied by the Dumbo octopus salt and pepper shakers, has been an ongoing project for several years now.
After a lot of trial and error sculpting in porcelain, I switched to paper porcelain and hope this version will survive without any cracks. So far, it’s looking promising!
This anglerfish and octopus will be part of a deep-sea table set, all sculpted in porcelain.
